Hello, I’m Cari, an artist inspired by the beauty of the southern landscape and places that I have visited through my travels. Some places have a way of staying with us long after we've left them—that sense of connection is what I try to bring to my paintings. Using both oil and encaustic mediums, I create landscapes, coastal marsh scenes, seascapes and scenes from special places around the world. I love capturing the beauty, light, and quiet moments found in the natural world. While painting is now my primary creative focus, the path that led me here has been anything but traditional.

I grew up in very rural upstate New York, where I developed an early love of photography, even though I never considered myself an artist. My academic journey took me in a very different direction—I earned a degree in Biology from North Carolina State University and a master's degree in Human Genetics from the University of South Carolina before working as a genetic counselor. After my three children were born, I chose to stay home with my family and eventually turned my lifelong interest in photography into a portrait business. For more than two decades, I had the privilege of photographing the fleeting moments of pregnancy, newborns, families, and high school seniors, preserving meaningful moments in the lives of hundreds of families.

A few years ago, I felt called to explore a new creative chapter and began painting. I am mostly self-taught and have discovered a deep connection to the expressive possibilities of paint. Today, from my studio in Cary, North Carolina, I create artwork that reflects my love of the Southern landscape and the places that inspire me. I am so honored to have my work hanging in homes all over the country including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, New Jersey, Maine, Texas, Illinois, Minnesota, Massachusetts, California, Wisconsin, Florida and New Hampshire.

Whether it's the glow of the marsh at sunset, the quiet beauty of the mountains, or memories gathered while traveling, my hope is that each painting invites viewers to pause, connect, and bring a sense of peace and place into their homes.
