Encaustic painting is a technique that uses melted beeswax/demar resin mixed with pigment, applied to a surface in a molten state and fused with heat between layers. The wax cools quickly, allowing me to build up texture, depth, and translucency that flat media can't achieve. Each layer can be scraped, carved, or reworked, giving the finished piece a tactile, almost sculptural quality. The layered wax catches and diffuses light in a way that gives the work a very ethereal, glowing presence — as if the surface is lit from within. It's a medium that holds a mysterious quality, resulting in pieces that feel soft, luminous, and quietly alive.
